If you don’t find anyone to travel with and the trip does not go ahead, you can either transfer your deposit to join someone else’s trip or receive a full refund with no hassle or admin fees. If you don’t find enough people to join your trip, you will have the option to continue with less people as long as all your travel mates onboard agree. If someone leaves your trip, you can also choose a replacement. Once your trip is full and your travel buddies are confirmed, it is then non-refundable.

Plus, there is no need for a substantial deposit to have a campervan guaranteed for you. We make the whole process easier for you so you can enjoy your travels.

Your deposit is used to guarantee your commitment to the trip for others to see. Our model is based on shared experiences and we are trying to ensure that you will not get disappointed by someone letting you down.

You can start and finish in all major cities in Australia. We work with majority of campervan rental companies across Australia and New Zealand, so if they have vans available in your chosen location, we will book it for you.

When organising your trip or joining someone else’s trip, you can write what is important to you for others to see. Once your van is booked we will share the contact details of each group member for this trip with your group.

It all depends on your profile and how many people are planning to travel in the same direction. Once a request to join a trip is sent, the trip creator will have 24 hours to accept or decline a travel mates request to join.

We work with majority of the campervan rental companies in Australia. We always try to book the best budget campervans possible based on the number of people in your group and availability.

At this stage Snail Mates only rent standard campervans (including Hi Top and Pop Top vans) due to insurance requirements.

To be the driver you will need a non-provisional licence. Interstate or international licenses are acceptable; however, the license must be in English. If the license is not in English, it must be accompanied by an International Drivers Permit (IDP) in English. If you don’t have a driver’s license don’t worry, you can select others to drive so you can still have your grand road trip experience without being behind the wheel. You can create your own trip and find someone else to drive or you can join someone else who can drive.

Its as simple as creating your profile, creating your own trip and inviting your friends to join through the app using your contacts. If you are joining someone else and would like to bring a friend, you can invite your friends at the time of joining someone else’s trip.

If the the trip is not full you can leave the trip and get a full refund or use this money to join somebody else or create your own trip. If the trip is full, you cannot get your deposit back. It’s a discretion of trip organiser to accept new members.

As a trip organiser you have a certain responsibility and powers. You can accept or decline people to join you and others. As for any other trip members, your deposit becomes non-refundable when the required number of people join you and your group considered to be complete.

Our application is in the English language. However, if you are worried about communicating with your travel buddies, you can mention it when you send them a request to join or write it in your profile when organising your own trip.
